On Saturday February 14, 2009, Found Animals hosted the My Furry Valentine: Adopt a Shelter Sweetheart event alongside Pets 90210, a non-profit dedicated to finding homes for homeless pets.

Adopters came from all over Southern California for face painting, valentine making and wonderful shelter pets at the Southeast Area Animal Control (SEAACA), West Los Angeles and East Valley Animal Care Centers.

Thanks to dedicated shelter partners, volunteers and adopters, many wonderful animals found loving homes! SEAACA had an amazing turnout, with over 500 attendees and 44 animal adoptions. The West Los Angeles Animal Care Center more than doubled their usual adoption rate, rehoming 26 animals. Dionne Warwick greeted adopters and signed autographs at the East Valley Animal Care Center where 47 animals were adopted. In addition to the three featured facilities, all Los Angeles Animal Services shelters offered discounted adoption rates, resulting in more than 390 total adoptions for the weekend for all six city locations and SEAACA.

Found Animals encourages you to visit your local shelter when looking to add a new pet to your family! Visit Pet Finder and Pet Harbor to find a homeless pet in your area, or click here for a complete list of Los Angeles area adoption facilities.
