From Student to Entrepreneur: Lauren Turns Passion into Pawsome Success!
Remember Lauren Turner? In 2022, we met this inspiring student at the Michelson Institute for Pet Professions (MIPP), a program that empowers individuals to launch careers in dog grooming through subsidized tuition provided by MFA. Fast forward to 2024, and Lauren’s story is an incredible testament to the power of hard work and the transformative opportunities offered by MIPP.
A Spark Ignited:
It all started with a simple spark – a news feature about dog grooming caught Lauren’s attention. “Hey, I can do that!” she thought, and a quick Google search led her to MIPP, a life-changing program created by Michelson Found Animals in partnership with West Coast Grooming Academy and Annenberg PetSpace.
MIPP: Cultivating Skills and Confidence:
From day one, Lauren’s enthusiasm and dedication were evident. We interviewed her back in 2022, and her vision for the future was as bright as her smile. She shared:
“I hope to own my own grooming salon someday, share it with my family, kids in the neighborhood, and show them that it’s a career you can get into, because it’s not something you see too often. I’ve seen how little kids and little girls that look like me, seeing me grooming dogs, how it inspires, I want to be that person.”
MIPP provided Lauren with the essential skills and knowledge to excel in the dog grooming industry. Through hands-on training and expert mentorship, she mastered the art of canine care, from safe bathing and meticulous clipping to breed-specific styles and gentle pet handling techniques.
The Pawtique Pawlor is Born:
Lauren didn’t waste time putting her newfound skills to work. With unwavering determination, she transformed her passion into a thriving business. On June 30th, 2024, the ribbon was cut at the grand opening of her very own grooming salon, The Pawtique Pawlor, in Lauren’s hometown of Inglewood, CA!
A Dream Realized:
“Now I have my own grooming shop,” Lauren beams with pride. “Thank you to The Michelson Institute for Pet Professions for everything. I started the program with a dream, and I wouldn’t be here without your guidance.”
The Pawtique Pawlor officially opened its doors on July 1st, 2024, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for Lauren. Her story is a shining example of how MIPP empowers individuals to pursue their passions and achieve remarkable success.
