Olympians Who Love Their Pets as Much as Sports

Olympians

We’ve got spirit! Yes, we do! We’ve got spirit! How ‘bout you?! We’re totally digging the Winter Olympics this year. It takes a true love for your sport to make it to the Olympics. What do Olympians love as much as sports? Their pets. In fact, we’d even be so bold as to say they love animals as much as we do. Here are some famous Olympians who are crazy about their pets!

Chloe Kim

Chloe Kim has made quite a splash on the scene this year – and all at the tender age of 17! She won the gold medal for Team USA, clearly blowing away the judges for the women’s snowboarding halfpipe competition. She’s developing a large following and so has her Miniature Australian Shepherd Reese! You can follow the pup’s Instagram account.

Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey Vonn has become something of an Olympic mainstay, debuting in 2017 in Vancouver and making a comeback in Pyeong-chang. Lindsey is a magnificent skier and an equally magnificent dog mom. She has three dogs named Leo, Lucy and Bear. They have almost THIRTY THOUSAND followers on Instagram! Hot dog!

Matt Antoine

Matt Antoine is a racer in the Skeleton, an event that is just as terrifying as it sounds. It’s a dangerous sport with minimal protection and it takes guts to compete. Matt says his rescue dog, Dixie, helps him get in competition shape. Thanks, Dixie!

Lindsey Jacobellis

Lindsey Jacobellis first appeared at the Winter Olympics in 2006, and has competed in every Winter Games since. We are head over heels for her snowboarding skills and we’re equally enamored with her Yorkshire Terrier mix, Gidget. Described as a “small dog with a big heart,” Gidget follows Lindsey around the country. While she’s 11 years old, the constant travel doesn’t wear her down. When Gidget can’t tag along, she stays with Lindsey’s family in Connecticut.

Gus Kenworthy

Gus Kenworthy is a fab freestyle skier and rescued two stray puppies from the Sochi Olympics. His dogs, Jake and Mishka, sure have grown up and they love life with their dad. They even help him train to compete!

Meagan Duhamel

Meagan Duhamel may not be a member of Team USA, but this Canadian truly has a place in our hearts. She rescued a Dachshund, Moo-tae, from the South Korean dog meat trade. Now she encourages other Olympians to do the same!

Alex and Maia Shibutani

We love the “Shib Sibs,” Maia and Alex Shibutani. They perform as a pair in the ice dancing competition. What do they also do together? Raise their two Maltese dogs, Lily and Po.
