The 5 Best Pet-Friendly 4th of July Parades
We love a good parade! And the only thing that makes a parade even better is having our furry bestie by our side. Here are the five best pet-friendly 4th of July Parades!
Bandera Annual Fourth of July Pet Parade: Bandera, TX
Head down to Bandera, TX, for the annual Independence Day pet parade! When we say this event is pet-friendly, we mean ALL pets. All animals are welcome — dogs, cats, birds, horses, turtles and more. Don’t have a pet? No problem! Animal-free attendees are encouraged to dress up like their favorite pet. Registration starts at 9 a.m. so get there nice and early. Then judging starts at 9:30 and the parade begins at 10. Plus, everything is free!
AVAM’s July 4th Visionary Pets on Parade: Baltimore, MD
If you’re in the Baltimore area, be sure to check out the American Visionary Art Museum’s Visionary Pets on Parade! Not just a parade, the fun also includes contests, pet musical chairs and a talent show. And wear your very best outfit because trophies are given out for the best costumes and other fun categories like “Least Likely to Succeed as a Pet.”
Fireworks-Free Fourth of July Celebration: Cannon Beach, OR
We’ve talked at length about how pets hate fireworks. They cause a great deal of stress and fear and make the holiday no fun for pets and their owners alike. This is why the fireworks-free festivities on Cannon Beach, OR, are so great. The parade is super pooch-friendly where marchers throw not only candy, but dog treats to happy canines. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and offers everything there is to love about a parade: dogs, classic cars and floats. Plus, you’ll be at Cannon Beach which is also dog-friendly. This event is free, but feel free to make a donation!
Eastview Park’s 4th of July Bark Party: Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA
Southern Californians rejoice! There’s a pet event for you too! The Bark Party offers fun for the whole family with activities, crafts, games, photo booths, giveaways and, of course, a dog parade. We encourage you to bring pet supply donations — like pet food, toys and blankets — to be entered in a raffle. Be sure to get there early since the festivities start at 10 a.m. and end at noon. And everything is free!
Avila Beach Annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast & Doggie Parade: Avila Beach, CA
The only thing we love more than good 4th of July parades is a healthy dose of carbs. This event combines both! The breakfast itself isn’t dog-friendly (boo), but dog sitters are available to keep an eye on your four-legged bestie while you eat your body weight in pancakes (yay!). You’ll want to make sure that your pooch is wearing their finest duds, because afterward you’ll enjoy the costume contest and doggie parade. The breakfast is $7 for adults and $3 for kids ages 6 and under. And the parade and contest are free, but donations are welcome!
